Full Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Hook Falls

I will be departing town at 6:00AM-6:30AM to arrive at the park for 10:00AM. I already did the orientation so I can sign and and get right down to it. Not a huge rush to get to the camp site as I want to enjoy and take all of it in at my own pace. Distance from the parking lot to the camp site is about 8.8km. I plan on checking out the White River suspension bridge and the white sand beach for a longer period of time compared to last year. ͏͏͏͏͏͏͏͏ ͏͏

Day 2: Morrison Harbour

From Hook Falls, I will be travelling to Morrison Harbor, an inland bay with a nice beach with shallow waters. This will be a little longer than the previous day, which will be 13.2km total distance. I have travelled this way to Willow River previously, so I know to expect some highs and terrain changes. I will probably get an early start on this hike, no later than 10am depature. ͏͏͏͏͏͏͏͏ ͏͏

Day 3: Willow River

This destination is the reason why I decided to come back out here. It is a large private beach shared with 4 other camp sites, with the perfect view of the sunset across the horizon looking out at the lake. From Morrison Harbour, it is only 5.6km and is not really much of a hiking day. I chose to do it this way because I want to enjoy a full day and night out here. This will be considered a lazy day. ͏͏͏͏͏͏͏͏ ͏͏

Day 4: Playter Harbour North

The final destination of the trip involves backtracking to the beginning of the trail all the way to Playter Harbour, with a total distance of 11.9km travelled. I will get to cross the Willow River suspension bridge again, which is always a great experience. It will be an easy hike back to the parking lot the next day which is why I chose this site to stay at for the night.

Day 5: Back to Hatie Cove

This is the last day of the trip so I'll be hiking 4.5km back to Hatie Cove, where I will take a real shower, freshen up, and start the drive back home. I'll probably take my sweet time. It will also be the day where my pack will be at it's lightest.

Total distance travelled: 44km

NOTES:

  • tried to narrow down some items for a balance between comfort and weight
  • prices are in CAD dollars and may have changed since purchase
  • USB AA batteries are "Survival Frog" brand, cost about $30 at the time of purchase
  • USB AAA batteries are "Uni-com" brand, cost about $15 at the time of purchase
  • didn't price out home-made kits as they are made from things at home, however the toothpaste tablets did cost $8 and some change
  • i really dont think i need 2 cans of fuel, so this will be a good test to gauge how much i can get out of a single can. have made a single can last 3 days before
  • bringing the shower as i like to get clean at the end of the day and be fresh for night. it will also double as a water reservoir to hang at campsite. total luxury item for sure
