This gear list maintains an approximate total weight of 25 lb, including a base weight of 10.5 lb. It is designed to balance comfort, durability, and simplicity for various backcountry adventures, including the Pacific Crest Trail and Half Dome.

I personally used this pack setup for 3 months on the Pacific Crest Trail.

Base Weight & Loadout

  • Base Weight: ~10.5 lb

  • Consumables (Food/Water/Fuel): ~10.64 lb

Primary components include the KS40 backpack, a 20°F quilt, the NeoAir Xlite sleeping pad, and a Lunar Solo tent. A Sawyer Mini filtration system is also utilized for water purification, alongside essential items such as Leukotape*, soap, and a mini Bic lighter.

*Leukotape, liner socks and clean feet are key to stopping blisters.

Notable Features

  • Ultralight Cooking Kit: BRS stove and Toaks titanium pot minimize total pack weight. (One of the lightest cooking combinations)
  • Ditty Bag: Assembled for personal hygiene, first aid, and other necessary conveniences while cutting excess weight.
  • Electronics: The NU25 headlamp, iPhone, solar panel, and Garmin Inreach Mini ensure connectivity, safety, and power management at an extremely low weight.
