Ditty Bag
$5.00 0.2 lb 22 -
total
1st aid, repair kit, utelsils, knife, poop kit. Adding in roughly 2-3 oz of consumables because they were in the bag. I might be carrying to much for some peoples taste. I'm at a point where I can't look at any of the kits and willingly cut things out. Maybe I'll get there, but my med and repair kits are 1oz each and have a lot stuff. More focused on repair stuff than first aid. Might be missing a few things that ive added in

gas can adapter set $10
use the smaller one that's brass with two o rings if it works. That works for butane into isobutane cans, but it wont do iso to iso cans, I'll have to get either the camping moon 1.44oz or cheaper one without pressure release valve (.8oz) Jeebel or something like that was the brand name. On second thought, I'll carry the 5 gram adapter or nothing on a long trip. It's not worth the weight to be able to refill my canister from half empty canisters in hiker boxes.

gallon size if too small for cold soaking (.5oz). I'd like to cold soak in a bag in my pot, then warm it up when I stop. I'm hoping putting it in my pot will keep it from breaking and save the oz of a pb jar. skippy pb jar, large (1.75oz), small (1.3oz but too small and cant get my hand in).

zpacks wind shirt
+ zpacks wind shirt as a Sleeping top. The fleece will double as a warm sleep shirt and active layer when temps drop. If this isn't working during the shoulder season, I'll give up and switch the wind shirt to a capeline thermal top from patagonia and go back to this when things warm up around april

60gsm polartec alpha direct hoodie
Farpointul has the lightest one at 3.5oz. superior fleece sell 60gsm. either bring 60 gsm or the R1 (193gsm), not sure if it's worth it to bring the R1. I wear the R1 during january, but during february and march found it ending up in my bag after temps warmed up. I think a 60 gsm would work well in the shoulder season, and they have a 120 gsm if it's too cold that is still 4oz lighter than the r1. The 180gsm alpha direct is only an ounce lighter than the R1 air, but maybe its warmer with how the r1 air is stitched to breathe so much. Definitely switching to 60 gsm alpha direct to start.

Things I think I need from the smokies and Roan in february
$0.00 0 lb 0 -
polartec pants
either this or down pants to add to sleep system if my legs are still cold. My though is wearing the puffy on my torso and the fleece around my legs if the temps drop on me in the shoulder season, or visa versa if I need to. My legs and feet run cold when I sleep, so I guess It'll be a matter of trial and error for experience after I get my sleep system and try it out.

BD alpine start softshell
Looking at getting this to replace a cheap columbia softshell I have that weighs 20 oz. This might not be as warm as that columbia, but it's a lot lighter when it ends up in my bag. Another Item I was looking at for winter backpacking and adding in on shoulder seasons if need be. Suggestions on its necessity in the southeast around the smokies, roan, VA, and NC during february and march, or alternatives?
