This list is attempting to put together a UL pack-list suitable for a long UK thru-hike using only UK based suppliers where possible. The purpose for this is to offer UK alternatives to the US based cottage companies commonly touted on r/ultralight and on thru-hiking blogs.

Key Points:

  • I'm focusing on trying to find the lightest UK based products and won't include all options available

  • All weights are by spec on websites, not based on actual weight

  • "UK Suppliers" refers to UK based cottage manufacturers in the first case, then UK big brands, and finally UK based suppliers of general outdoor equipment.

  • Not all of the below items are manufactured in the UK, however those without the Red Star are marketed and/or sold by companies in the UK.

  • Red Stars Indicate Essential Kit that I haven't found an alternative sold by a UK company

  • Green Stars indicate alternative options depending on preference

  • I've started to include prices, but won't update these super regularly.

  • This is (largely speaking) based on my own lighterpack (which is specced for a >2000 mile US Thru) and then has my own preferences and biases, let me know in the Facebook group comments on the doc if you think anything else is worth consideration/swapping out 🙂

  • Currently most of this kit-list is untested, feedback on all the products below is very welcome!

  • I've left most consumables and generics up to you here so base weight will be a bit off.
